Spark Change
Why I Write
I believe words can heal. They did for me.
I was born and raised in Mississippi, shaped by southern roots, family stories, and long stretches of quiet. I served in the Army, carried scars seen and unseen, and for years I didn’t know what to do with the weight I carried.
Then I started writing. At first it was just for me — scribbles in notebooks, poems that weren’t meant for anyone else. But something shifted. The page became a place to lay down what I couldn’t say out loud. In those lines I found healing, and almost immediately I wanted to share the chance of that healing with others.
This site is my trailhead for that work. Here you’ll find poems, reflections, and stories that come from a life of searching — for hope, for meaning, for belonging. Some pieces are raw, some are tender, but all of them are honest.
If you’ve ever felt alone, if you’ve ever needed a reminder that hope is still out there, my words are for you. Take what you need, share what might help someone else, and keep walking your own trail.
Because I believe in this: words aren’t just mine to hold — they’re sparks. And sparks can change everything.
